London's deadly weekend attacks have been claimed by Islamic State. The London Bridge stabbings and vehicle attack claimed seven lives. British police have staged a massive crackdown, arresting 12 people linked to the attacks so far. Prime Minister Theresa May has condemned the Islamist extremism responsible for the attack, saying "enough is enough".

Wayde Van Niekerk has managed a sub-20 second 200m at the Boston Boost Games. Winning the event with a time of 19.84, Van Niekerk clocked the time on a temporary, straight track. As such it will not be recorded as an official time. Regardless, for the world 400m champion, making headway in the 200m event is a positive sign for his next event in Jamaica.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied any knowledge on a pre-inauguration proposal by Donald Trump's son-in-law-slash-adviser. In an NBC interview last night, Putin flatly denied any proposal occurred where Jared Kushner suggested creating an open, unbugged communications channel with Moscow. Putin was also quick to deny any meddling in terms of hacking the elections, making for a very Russian, denial-laden sort of interview to watch.

Saudi Araba began today's shenanigans by cutting all ties with Qatar, accusing it of destabilising the region. Bahrain for its part complained that Qatar had been meddling in its affairs. Aside from the three, the UAE had also joined the Qatar-shunning band. The day is young, however, so expect more states to jump on board.
