All figures are IHME modelled estimates for South Africa, both sexes, all ages, with 95% uncertainty intervals. Row numbers count the CSV header as row 1. Nothing is interpolated or filled: where a combination has no data the page says so.

The history (GBD 2023) and the forecast (GBD Foresight, built on the GBD 2019 round) come from different model rounds. They are never drawn on the same axis.

‘Cancer and other tumours’ is GBD's ‘Neoplasms’ category: every cancer plus benign and in-situ growths. South Africa's National Cancer Registry is pathology-based and counts lower than GBD; the two are not directly comparable.

Disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) are the sum of years of life lost to premature death (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs).
